RV AC Soft Start: What Micro-Air EasyStart Can and Cannot Do

An RV AC soft start is designed to reduce the starting demand of a compatible air-conditioning compressor. Micro-Air EasyStart products can help address compressor-starting demands in an appropriate installation. They do not add power to a generator or shore connection, reduce every running load, or repair a malfunctioning air conditioner.
Understand starting demand versus running demand
A compressor's startup places a different demand on the supply from steady operation. A soft-start device addresses startup behavior, but the RV still needs an adequate power source for the AC and other equipment operating at the same time.
Do not assume that adding a device makes every generator, inverter, adapter, or household outlet suitable for your RV. Review the ratings, installation requirements, and total load of the actual equipment.
Confirm product and AC compatibility
Identify the AC model, electrical arrangement, and exact EasyStart product before planning installation. Follow the current Micro-Air instructions for that product and the air-conditioner's requirements.
Different AC units can have different wiring arrangements. Installation should be performed by someone qualified to identify the correct connections, isolate the equipment, and complete the prescribed setup and testing.
Diagnose existing faults first
If the AC trips a breaker, fails to start, makes an abnormal sound, or stops cooling, report those symptoms. A soft-start device should not be used as a substitute for finding a failed component, wiring concern, or unsuitable power condition.
